Why should I live in the Residence Hall?
The Brooklyn College dormitory offers you a unique student housing opportunity and has some terrific benefits. Here are just a few:

  • Close proximity to Brooklyn College, the College Library and various campus support services.
  • Residence Life organized social events provide Brooklyn College dormitory students with opportunities to participate in many different styles of extracurricular activities.
  • Individual License Agreements mean you don't have to worry about your roommate not paying their dorm fee's.
  • There is plenty of common area space for socializing, relaxing, and exercising in our Fitness Center.

Who is eligible to live in Residence Hall?
Registered students, current college faculty and staff members are eligible to live in on- RHBC Management. Residents do not have to be students of Brooklyn College. Student housing is provided for students attending any College or University.

What is included in the Residence Hall?
The Residence Hall will have:

  • Quiet Study Room
  • Community Lounge
  • Laundry Facility
  • Fitness Room
  • 24-hour courtesy officer on duty
  • Wi-Fi
  • Fully equipped communal kitchen with full size refrigerator, oven and stove

What is included in the student apartments?
Each apartment will have:

  • Bed, desk, chair and wardrobe for each student
  • Microwave
  • Hot Plate
  • Refrigerator
  • Wi-Fi
  • Basic Cable TV
  • All utilities
  • Large windows with blinds in every bedroom

What kind of safety measures are in place at the Residence Hall?
There is a 24-hour courtesy officer on duty. Building ID and Student's College ID must be presented upon entry to the building. Guests must leave picture ID and sign in. There are surveillance cameras around the perimeter of the building, at entrances, in the common areas, hallways and in all elevators.

Are tours of Residence Hall available?
Yes. Walk-in tours are available for students and parents Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, or call 718-252-5000, for an appointment.

How are roommates assigned?
After you have secured your room and the school year is approaching, you will receive a survey which we will use to find you a suitable roommate.

Can I live with my friend(s) on campus?
You may request a roommate. Whenever possible, a mutual roommate request will be honored. Requests must come from both students, so we suggest submitting your applications and deposits together. Rooms are assigned on a first-pay, first-serve basis pending availability. We offer only same-gender room assignments.

What lengths of stay are offered in student housing?
You can apply for the Fall, Spring or Summer semesters. Summer housing may be added at any time.

What are the rules for living in the Residence Hall?
Upon move-in, you will be provided with copies of the Resident Handbook & Student Code of Conduct. You are also expected to comply with CUNY Article XV and Rules for Maintenance of Public Order. For questions on specific policies, please contact RHBC Management at 718-252-5000, ext. 302 or 303.

When will I find out if my application is approved?
Typically in 1 to 2 business days via phone or email. You may also contact RHBC Management regarding the status of your application at 718-252-5000, ext. 302 or 303.

What size is the bed?
The bed size is extra long twin. Appropriate sized sheets can be found at most department stores.

What are the visitation policies?
Residents are allowed to sign-in up to three guests anytime time between 9am and 10pm. For guests staying overnight, the maximum is two guests, and residents are required to submit an After-Hours Guest Form to the RHBC Management office the day prior to the guest's arrival for approval.

Will financial aid cover the cost of student housing?
There are many programs designed to cover the cost of student housing in the Residence Hall @ Brooklyn College. Please contact your school's Financial Aid Department or your banking institution to find out if you are eligible for financial aid. RHBC Management will accept most forms of financial assistance from residents.

Is there a meal plan included?
Residence Hall does not offer a meal plan at this time. Students have various dining options at the school's campus and there are many food establishments and supermarkets within walking distance of the Residence Hall.
